Seed funds

INNOventure

The team of the Krakow Technology Park’s KPT Seed Fund have gathered vast experience in the years of its operation, and have decided to use it also for other initiatives that serve introduction of innovative solutions to the market. In December 2014, together with the Polish National Centre for Research and Development (NCBR), the KPT Seed Fund set up INNOventure: a fund specialising in the commercialisation of results of research and scientific work.

INNOventure supports academics, inventors, engineers, and entrepreneurs in project development, marketing, and value building. People and businesses with attractive ideas who have started cooperation with the fund find minimum bureaucracy, protection of intellectual property rights, transparent path of commercialisation, and financing of pre-incubation stage and investments.

The INNOventure Fund cooperates closely with institutions of higher education and science, technology transfer centres, and special purpose vehicles developed by the academia. This cooperation has already resulted in spinning off first companies based on the intellectual property developed at the universities and the results of research and development work conducted in private businesses.

The KPT Seed Fund

The KPT Seed Fund is a joint adventure of the Krakow Technology Park and SATUS Venture. Its portfolio consists of over 20 companies, a fair share of which have already acquired successive investors: both individual and venture capital funds.

In 2010–14, the investments of the KPT Seed Fund were conducted from the funds of the Innovative Economy programme. Since 2015, the Fund makes capital engagements from own resources acquired from the sales of shares in companies it previously invested in.

The special areas of interest of the KPT Seed Fund include engineering, technology, and ICT projects.
