Space industry

For years, the Krakow Technology Park has been actively supporting the development of the space tech ecosystem in Kraków and the Małopolska region, bridging the gap between the world of space technology and the real needs of the market.

How we help

The space sector is one of the fastest-growing areas of modern business, combining advanced technologies, data analysis, engineering innovation and the transfer of solutions to a wide range of civilian sectors – from medicine and energy to transport, smart cities and environmental protection.

KPT’s activities focus on connecting the worlds of science, business and public institutions with the European space sector, and on the practical application of satellite technologies in industry, services and urban development.

Technology transfer and cooperation with ESA

As a member of the ESA Technology Broker consortium, we support companies in utilising space technologies in civilian sectors and in implementing local innovations within the space industry. We help to bridge the gap between science, business and European development programmes.

We also actively assist in securing funding from ESA programmes, including ESA Spark Funding, which offers up to €75,000 for the development of prototypes for innovative solutions. We provide free support with technology analysis, partnership building and entering international markets.

Acceleration, incubation and skills development

We run development programmes for companies in the space and dual-use sectors, such as IDA Bootcamp, which support market validation, prototype development and the creation of business models. Participants develop specific technological solutions, some of which go on to be commercialised or used in further research and development.

We also co-create incubation and acceleration programmes, including BalticSatApps SpaceUp and the GEODATA Applied Innovation Course, focusing on geodata, Earth observation, AI and data analytics.

Events and community building

We create a space for knowledge exchange and networking through the Space Connect MeetUP series, held in Poland’s largest cities. These events bring together start-ups, experts, investors and companies interested in applying space technologies to business. The series culminates in the Space Connect SUMMIT, which attracts hundreds of participants and dozens of speakers from Poland and abroad.

We organise the international editions of the EUSPA CASSINI Hackathon in Kraków. These events develop skills in working with satellite data and support the creation of new projects and start-ups.

International networks and regional cooperation

KPT is a member of the European NEREUS network, which brings together regions that utilise space technologies in urban management and economic development. Membership of the network provides access to expertise, international projects and partnerships across Europe.

We also actively participate in regional initiatives, such as the Małopolska Space Sector Council, and are co-founders of the ‘Kraków – Space City’ agreement, which aims to promote the development of space technologies, education, support for start-ups and international cooperation.

Krakow Space City

Together with the City of Kraków, we are developing a strong space ecosystem, built on the region’s scientific, technological and business potential. Thanks to consistent efforts, Kraków can now proudly call itself a Space City, attracting space tech projects and key industry events. We place particular emphasis on educational, research and implementation activities, as well as the practical application of space technologies in public services and the city’s economy. This strengthens the local innovation ecosystem and consolidates Kraków’s position in the global space market.
